Castle Rock School, Leicestershire
SIPs provided a structural and thermal fast track construction solution for the Castle Rock School in Leicestershire. The system provided fast site installation, which enabled other trades to work fast and safely to meet the construction programme.
The walls were constructed using 150mm SIPs and the roof with 180mm panels offering a clear span of 5m from rafter to rafter. The external finish for walls was a mixture of brick/block and timber cladding and the roof had a single ply membrane applied over the panels. All structural openings were factory engineered to ensure a precision fit on site.
Panels were designed to be integrated with the gluelam frame and enabled the elimination of timber purlins and rails. Panels provided additional restraint to the frame and acted as a diaphragm on the roof. |
