Strength, Quality & Energy Efficiency

for the developer

Design Flexibility

SIPs create new possibilities of design without the constraints of conventional building materials.

Additional Floor Area

SIPs create additional warm living space in the roof by eliminating conventional trusses. This can provide an additional 20% of floor space at no additional cost and makes use of all of the potential space in the building.

Structural Advantages

Structural superiority has been proven by independent testing. Point loads can be dispersed through the monolithic structure.

Sipframe will provide technical and construction services including assistance with all stages of the panel design process, full CAD assembly shop/drawings with every project, design, estimating, engineering, construction support and site installation.

Construction Benefits

Sipframe SIPs are better for the developer. Pre-cut and fabricated panels reduce installation time by up to 70%. The building process requires less skilled labour and less supervision. Specialized tools are not required and fixed pricing allows budgets to remain accurate.

Choice of Finish

A SIPs structure will form the hidden shell of the building. The external walls can then be finished in many ways. These can include traditional cavity and facing brickwork, timber cladding, brick slips and render systems. Internal walls are normally finished with fire resistant plasterboard. Roofs are finished as normal with battens and tiles, although the inherent strength of a SIPs roof does not require the same weight of finish as a conventional vented roof void. This can allow the use of a lightweight roof finish if desired.

General

The skeleton of the house is not subject to dependence on skilled and expensive labour, and a good team leader with 2 unskilled workers can erect the system from foundation to ridge in typically 3/5 days.

Similarly the house can be secured very rapidly to restrict pilfering and to allow 2nd fixing to take place almost immediately, further reducing costs.

These factors alone can have a significantly positive effect on the bottom line, but it doesn’t end here. Because the Sipframe panel system is used to provide the structural roofing elements, the attic space is part of the system and not an added extra.

Sipframe adding value

Sipframe offer developers, housing associations and self-builders a full ‘turnkey’ construction service. Our Building Services wing has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry and will provide full project planning to meet your specific requirements and timeframe.

• Sipframe will tailor its services to specific customer needs, offering supply only, supply & erection of SIPs and a full ‘turnkey’ construction service.

• Sipframe can incorporate high performance solutions to enhance the low heat loss characteristics of SIPs. These solutions include the supply of superior German windows & doors to ‘passive’ standard and a wide range of renewable energy solutions to ensure low carbon emissions and significantly reduced running costs.

• Sipframe work closely with developers and housing associations to assist them to develop low energy housing that will meet levels 4*, 5* & 6* of the “Code for Sustainable Homes”.

• Sipframe offer developers full co-operation in planning larger ‘eco’ construction schemes incorporating the benefits of SIPs, ‘passive’ windows & doors, combined with renewable district heating and power generation systems, to meet ‘zero-carbon’ emission standard.

• Sipframe are developing further off-site solutions which include a range of modular buildings to meet the need for fast additional accommodation at schools, hospitals, offices etc. Off-site built kitchen and bathroom ‘pods’ can be ‘dropped in’ and connected on-site to main services.

• A full NHBC, Zurich Warranty and BBA Certificate will be available with all buildings.

Code for Sustainable Homes

There is now an overwhelming body of scientific evidence showing that climate change is a serious and urgent issue, as highlighted in the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change.

More than a quarter of UK carbon dioxide emissions come from energy used to heat, light and run our homes. Other environmental impacts come from water use, waste generation and the use of polluting materials in construction.

More sustainable homes can provide us with improved overall well-being and quality of life. The Code for Sustainable Homes is a standard for key elements of designs & construction which effect the sustainability of a new home.

The ‘Mark of Quality’

This new code is used to rate sustainable energy efficiency; it employs a six star rating system, the highest level (six stars) reflects exemplar development.

Sipframe can help developers achieve this highest standard by working together to provide a highly efficient and sustainable building package, which will include renewable energy products, rainwater harvesting, heat recovery and ventilation systems and high performance windows and doors.

The ‘Mark of Quality’ will warrant ‘premium’ pricing, as the buyer will benefit from significant savings in running costs for the life of the property.
